“To Grow; To Evolve; To Be
To Gather; To Contain; To Encapsulate”
With a legacy spanning over four decades, IAA’s design studio is deeply rooted in the historic and cultural fabric of Upper Mall, Lahore. This connection is more than geographical—it is personal and enduring. For several years, the practice operated from its original studio just across the street from its current location, cultivating a strong sense of continuity and belonging within the neighborhood.
Today, the studio occupies the front wing of the principal architect Imtiaz Ali’s residence—a space that reflects the same architectural sensitivity and layered thinking that defines IAA’s work. The office is carefully crafted across multiple split levels, creating a spatial rhythm that is both dynamic and deliberate. Each level is seamlessly integrated yet maintains a distinct identity, allowing for focused work, collaboration, and creative exchange. This architectural arrangement mirrors the firm’s design ethos: rooted in clarity, openness, and thoughtful complexity.
