Imtiaz Ali Associates (IAA) was founded in Lahore, Pakistan in 1976 by Imtiaz Ali, a young architect fresh from the National College of Arts. Starting in a modest rented space across from his residence, Imtiaz Ali built the practice on a foundation of design integrity, cultural awareness, and technical excellence. In its early years, the firm quickly gained recognition for delivering projects of both ambition and substance, including landmark commissions such as the Sui Gas Headquarters and Epoch Heights.
This legacy of blending tradition with innovation continues to define IAA’s work nearly five decades later. Today, the studio operates as a Private Limited company and a RIBA Chartered Practice, with a diverse portfolio spanning residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, cultural, and urban planning projects across Pakistan. The team combines seasoned architects with emerging talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and design exploration.
While deeply connected to its heritage and the cultural fabric of Lahore, IAA approaches every project with a forward-looking perspective — addressing the social, environmental, and technological challenges of contemporary architecture.
